Top 10 AWC Food Reviews (Week 1)
April 14th – 17th
Recently, Branksome’s AWC menu has been on a roll with serving delicious, unique dishes. This week’s menu is by far the best, so buckle up, we’re diving fork-first into:
This Week’s Food Review.
Day 1: The OG Thunder Crunch Chicken Sandwich
Rating: 10/10 “The fan favorite”
Imagine this: a brioche bun so soft it could be used as a pillow, cradling a crispy chicken patty that actually crunches. The honey mustard sriracha sauce is the MVP here, but the pickles and coleslaw can’t be missed; they’re the supporting casts of the show.
Critic’s Note: The Cajun roast potatoes on the side were… fine. They were acceptable. Nothing can beat the impeccable taste of the first bite into that thunder crunch.

Day 2: Rosé all Day (Penne Pasta with Rosé Sauce) + GY cookies
Rating 8/10 “Fancy name, solid game”
First off, we need to give a little bit of credit for the pun. Rosé all Day sounds like something you would see on a bougie Michelin-star spot, not a school cafeteria. The pasta, creamy and cheesier than a rom-com marathon. The garlic breadsticks were the real stars of the show – crispy on the outside, buttery and fluffy on the inside. The GY cookies, with their stunning designs and irresistible flavor, were gone in a flash – proving themselves to be dangerously addictive treats.
Critic’s Note: The “Pennese Cake” (whatever that is) was MIA. Did it exist? Was it a myth? The world may never know.

Day 3: Grilled Pork Chop with Jalapeno, Pineapple Honey Glaze
Rating 9/10 “Sweet, spicy, and delicious”
When I heard about lunch for today during my period 3 English class, I can’t say I was satisfied. Let’s be honest — the phrase “school pork chop” usually triggers instant regret. However, the pork chop didn’t just impress me, it had me going back for seconds! The texture of the pork was juicy, not chewy, and the grill marks made you think it was a five-star restaurant. Not to mention the honey glaze. The glaze from the sweet honey and pineapple with the kick of Jalapeno is the kind of flavor that makes you pause and appreciate everything.
Critic’s Note: Still, for three glorious bites, I forgot I was eating off a plastic tray. That’s magic.

Day 4: Udon Noodle Chicken and Vegetable Bowl
Rating 8.5/10 “The Noodle Knockout”
The bowl is a blend of sweet and savory, combining the thick, chewy and perfectly cooked udon noodles with tender and flavorful chicken and a hint of sesame complements. Each slurp of the udon noodle checked off an imaginary box for the day — “Tasty” and “Nutritious”. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself licking the entire bowl clean.
Critic’s Note: I’ve had my fair share of udon noodles, so I wasn’t expecting much. However, the way the noodles smelled immediately caught my attention from a mile away. No dumplings today, I figured.

This week’s menu wasn’t just edible—it was iconic. If the AWC keeps this energy, we might start looking forward to lunch more than long weekends. Stay tuned for Week 2!
Until next week, stay hungry and stay judgmental.
